It involves studying and using mathematical concepts. The goal is to make a business analysis. This analysis is used to guide the management of a setup.

Purpose:

We aim to integrate information and communication technology into the teaching and learning of Mathematics. Another goal is to produce graduate teachers who can generate interest in teaching and learning Mathematics at the pre-tertiary level.

Course Content:

Students will cover various topics. These include Teaching Mathematics, Statistics, and Mathematics. They will also study Algebra | & ll, Psychology of Learning Mathematics, and Introductory Calculus. Additionally, Trigonometry & Geometry, Computer Tools for Teachers I, and Discrete Mathematics will be addressed.

Institutions Offering Program:

The University of Cape Coast (Ghana) and the University of Education, Winneba (Ghana) are notable institutions. The University of Ghana (Legon) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are also prominent universities. Additionally, the University for Development Studies (UDS) and Valley View University Massachusetts Institute of Technology (UK), National University of Singapore (Singapore) are significant. There are many more like these.

Period:

Four years for direct WASSCE/SSSCE students.

Formal Employment Opportunities:

Graduates can become mathematics teachers, bankers, Statisticians, Investment Managers, Researchers in mathematics education, Curriculum developers, etc.

Employers:

Graduates mostly find themselves in banks and schools. They also work in the Ghana stock exchange and ICT facilities. Other institutions include research organizations like the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, etc.

Opportunities for Further Academic and Professional Development:

Graduates can do their master’s and doctorate in Math, Statistics, etc.

General Science, Business, and General Arts. Subjects are Elective Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics.

Students should have analytical and observatory minds. Students should be persistent in overcoming challenges and frustration. Students should have that passion and develop a genuine interest in mathematics and teaching. Students should have organizational skills and manage time effectively to balance academics and extracurricular activities. Students should be self-disciplined, stay motivated, and focused. Students become professional teachers after the course, thus employments in the Ghana Education Service or the private schools are assured. There is a great demand for mathematics teachers worldwide. Graduates should not have much problem in finding jobs as teachers.

Advice to Graduates from this Course Seeking Employment:

Stay positive and persistent in your job search. Also, continue to develop your skills and knowledge. Consider freelancing or entrepreneurship in education. Try to join online communities and forums for mathematics educators. If they can’t find jobs in other sectors, they should enter the teaching profession. They can teach in and outside the country. There is a great demand for mathematics teachers worldwide.
