TheReports Outreach Launches “Food On The Street Initiative”

A Non-Governmental Organisation, TheReports Outreach (TRO), has launched the maiden edition of Food On the Street Initiative by donating food to people on some selected streets of Accra yesterday.

The initiative in line with the sustainable development goal 2 (zero hunger) aims at feeding the homeless and physically challenged on the streets of Accra.

Packaged food with drinks worth thousands of Ghana Cedis has been distributed to hundreds of people including women, children and physically challenged persons found along some selected streets of Accra specifically Madina, Shiashie, Airport road, 37, Dzorwulu and Osu.

In an interview, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of TheReports Outreach, Humphrey Asigbee, disclosed that the initiative is set to be an annual event that provides basic relief to its targets at least once per year.

“The food on the street initiative which is been organised by The Reports Outreach focuses on sustainable development goal 2 (zero hunger) with the idea of feeding the homeless on the streets of Accra. The purpose of the initiative is to eliminate hunger facing targeted unemployed homeless families especially children living on the street in Accra yearly,” he stated.

He added that fund raising and inflation on commodities were a major challenge, however these challenges are not exigent enough to impede the second edition.

“It is our dream to see every child happy no matter where they are, and this should be our responsibility as advocates of change.
I will like to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to the almighty and to those who supported us throughout the event.”

The second runner-up of Miss Senior High School 2022, Mardiya Seidu, who participated in the initiative described her delight upon invitation onboard the initiative. She narrated how the initiative provided her the avenue to gather research data from interaction with people on the street to develop her sustainable program to pursue in the hopes of alleviating poverty and child streetism in Ghana.

Ok

“It is really a privilege for me to be invited to join this initiative to help put smiles on the faces of these children. The initiative so far is just excellent, everything is on point. This has enlightened me to adequately prepare my program to eliminate child streetism and poverty. My word to the organisers is to keep on doing this great job and whenever they need my support in anyway, I will be available for them.”

The initiative put wide smiles on the faces of the unsuspecting beneficiaries who had been going about their usual hustles to earn income for a living under the scorching sun.

TheReports Outreach is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with the objective to reach out and empower every child within the 16 regions in Ghana especially remote areas through education, health and supportive initiatives or programs.

Notable initiatives held include ThePencilFirst Project, the Library Project and Food on the Street Initiative thus providing over 12,000 beneficiaries with learning materials, library books and relief items.

The organisation’s next project is an educational camp.
