Jada Pinkett Smith’s ‘horrible’ memory of getting married to Will Smith: ‘I cried’

Jada Pinkett Smith described her wedding to Will Smith as “horrible” and admitted she only got married to him because she was pregnant in resurfaced footage.

In a previous episode of her show Red Table Talk from 2018, Pinkett Smith looked back on her wedding to the Oscar-winning actor rather negatively while sitting around a table with her family.

In the clip, the actress insisted that she “never wanted to get married” and only decided to have a wedding because her mother wanted her to, as she was pregnant at the time.

“I really didn’t wanna get married,” Pinkett Smith confessed to the group. To which Will jokingly responded, “We only got married because Gammy [Adrienne] was crying.”

“It was almost as if Gammy was like: ‘You have to get married, so let’s talk about the wedding’,” she added.

She continued, “I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just like pregnant and I just, I was just like, I didn’t know what to do, but I just knew, I was like, I never wanted to be married.”

As she was three months pregnant with her son Jaden, Pinkett Smith revealed that she was incredibly sick which made the day a lot worse.

“The bride was three months pregnant and ‘sick,'” Adrienne said, claiming that Pinkett Smith “was very unpleasant” and “didn’t cooperate with anything.”

She added: “I was so upset that I had to have a wedding — I was so pissed I went crying down the freaking aisle. I cried the whole way down the aisle.”

In contrast, Smith was in better spirits on the day saying, “There wasn’t a day in my life that I wanted anything other than being married and having a family. From literally five years old, I was picturing what my family would be.”

Earlier this week, it was announced Smith will be banned from attending the Oscars for the next decade after he slapped host Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards.

The actor will be prohibited from attending the yearly event until 2032 after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences board made a decision on Friday.

Smith has accepted the punishment in a statement to People: “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”
