Apple’s latest Apple Watch commercial emphasizes one of the device’s most crucial features: the ability to dial 911 in an emergency. The campaign comes months after a news of a man, knocked unconscious in a bike accident, being assisted by his Apple watch, vent viral.
The Apple Watch has been dubbed “a guardian of your health” by Apple. While most people associate the Apple Watch with fitness and general health tracking, it is also becoming known as a device that can assist in emergencies such as those featured in the campaign.
“These are just three of many incredible stories where people were able to get help using Apple Watch”, exclaims Apple with its latest Series 7 Watch campaign titled ‘911’ released on New Year’s Day.
The one-minute commercial has the camera rolling across landscapes – a sea, a roadway bordered by patches of water, and a farm. There are no graphic details and we don’t get to see the product or even the people who are requesting assistance on emergency 911 calls.
The campaign depicts three people – Amanda, Jason, and Jim who were all able to call 911 using their Apple Watches. The first caller is a woman whose car had flipped over and was filling up with water. The second story concerns a paddleboarder who has been pushed out to sea by a strong wind and is trying to get back to land. The third victim was a farmer who shattered his leg after falling 21 feet.
In the end, the Apple watch campaign says – “With the help of their watch, Jason, Jim, and Amanda were rescued in minutes”. The campaign comes months after a news of a man in Singapore, knocked unconscious in a bike accident, being assisted by his Apple watch, vent viral.
Always making ads that stick, Apple surely nailed this one with successfully instilling in us the idea that owning an Apple Watch can save you in life-threatening emergencies.
