Management of the Tamale Central Hospital has rubbished claims that the facility has suspended surgeries due to the shortage of consumables and water.
According to the hospital’s management, the theater staff failed to follow the requisitioning process at the stores to access the consumables needed as is usually the case and a hasty conclusion was drawn that the items were not available.
A statement signed by the Medical Superintendent of the Tamale Central Hospital, Dr. Mahamudu Mbiniwaya, indicated that the memo issued by the theater staff was taken without consulting management and does not represent the position of management.
He revealed that when the attention of management was drawn to the issue, it instituted measures in ensuring that the due store’s requisition was done and the required consumables were issued to the theater.
Dr. Mbiniwaya disclosed that five surgeries were done on the same day the consumables were provided.
“ Management wishes to assure its cherish clients and the general public that the theater staff has no mandate to stop the work in the theater without recourse to management.”
“ Asa hospital we are committed to continuous and uninterrupted service delivery and are therefore giving a firm assurance to our clients that there is no interruption in the delivery of any of our services.”
