Harrowing Astroworld audio reveals how terrified fans were ‘trampled, passed out, and couldn’t breathe’ in deadly crush

HARROWING emergency audio from the tragedy-plagued Astroworld festival has revealed how terrified fans were “trampled, passed out, and couldn’t breathe” in the deadly crush.

As the Astroworld death toll rose to nine, audio of police radio traffic, obtained by the Houston Chronicle, has given insight into how quickly authorities learned of the complaints in the crowd.

‘Seems like the crowd is compressing on itself,’ law enforcement audio captured an official saying[/caption]

Recordings from law enforcement radio heard one official saying just 20 minutes into Travis Scott’s performance: “Looks like folks are coming out of the crowd complaining of difficulty breathing, crushing-type injuries.

“Seems like the crowd is compressing on itself.”

Another was heard saying “the crowd is compressing.”

According to the newspaper, at 9.30pm an officer is heard saying: “I’m at the medical tent.

“There’s a lot of people trampled and they’re passed out at the front stage.”

As Scott performed, another audio heard someone saying that “multiple reports of people getting injured” were coming in.

“We have another report of cardiac situation with CPR by the stage,” the official added.

Someone at the medical tent was heard in another audio entry saying there were reports of “multiple people trampled” and “passed out at front of stage.”

The same person also said people were having trouble breathing.

Meanwhile, shocking video captured at the doomed festival appears to show members of the Houston Police Department laughing and filming Travis Scott more than 15 minutes after the concert was declared a “mass casualty event.”

In the 15-second clip, timed at 10.02pm exclusively obtained by The Sun, Scott is seen jumping around on stage with guest performer Drake on Friday night as a line of Houston PD officers stand just beneath them at the foot of the stage.

Drake didn’t take to the stage with Scott until 9.54pm. That means the video was captured at least 16 minutes after the Houston Fire Department declared Astroworld a mass casualty event at 9.38pm.

Long before Drake’s guest appearance, video captured at the event showed people unconscious on the ground, and security workers and bystanders administering CPR to some attendees who had collapsed amid a crowd surge.

Other clips showed festivalgoers pleading with cameramen and security guards to stop the show because “people are dying.”

At one stage – and after the video obtained by The Sun was captured – Scott stopped his performance to signal that somebody at the front had passed out and needed help. He then continued his performance.

Scott continued performing until 10.10pm, when at which point the concert was shut down during the rapper’s final song, according to Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

The event cancellation came 32 minutes after the mass casualty designation, Turner’s timeline would suggest.

Nine people died during the event and hundreds of others were injured, including 11 who suffered cardiac arrest. A number remain in the hospital in critical condition.
