Guyanese Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon Visits Ghana (PHOTOS)

Guyanese Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon has visited Ghana to speak at a church forum organized by the Cedar Mountain AOG Church.

The leading opposition leader and former vice president of Guyana also used the opportunity to re-establish political relations with the West African country.

During his visit, Mr. Joseph Harmon visited the former president and leading opposition leader of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama where he discussed political relations with Ghana and the National Democratic Congress.

He also made several visits to corporate entities and like-minded individuals in the country.

Mr. Harmon further visited the leader of the Muslim community in Ghana, the National Chief Imam Sheik Osman Nuru Sharubutu at his residence in Accra.

The former Guyanese MP also visited the Cape Coast Castle to learn and connect with his ancestors.

Speaking exclusively to My News Ghana, Mr. Joseph Harmon revealed that his visit has helped him experience the cultural and spiritual heritage of his ancestors while strengthening his business linkages within the West African country.

He was of the belief that his visit to Ghana will inspire more people from Guyana to visit Ghana.

Mr. Harmon entered into active politics in 2010 and became an APNU Member of Parliament after the 2011 Elections, in the 10th Parliament with responsibilities for Public Infrastructure, Housing, and Water. Some three years later, Mr. Harmon was the Campaign Manager for the APNU/AFC Coalition which won the National and Regional Elections in May 2015. In the 11th Parliament, Mr. Harmon was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of the Presidency. He resigned from that position in 2019 and now serves as the Leader of the Opposition.
