Dr. Dre was reportedly served divorce documents on the day of his grandmother’s funeral.
According to TMZ, a process server working on the behalf of his ex-wife, Nicole Young, attempted to serve the music mogul with legal docs at Inglewood Park Cemetery in California on Monday.
The outlet reports the 56-year-old was so upset after laying to rest the woman who helped raise him that he reportedly wouldn’t take the documents the process worker tried to hand him in the cemetery’s parking lot, which was 45 metres from his grandma’s grave.
TMZ revealed the papers Dre was served detailed payments for Young’s lawyer fees. The couple had been disputing how much he was required to pay. The rapper had already paid US$325,433 (approx. $400,000), but a judge signed an order that stating he owed a total of US$1,550,000 (approx. $2 million) — a figure Dre believes to be incorrect.
Young, 51, reportedly agrees with the judge’s order and wants her ex to pay the balance of US$1,224,567 (approx. $1.6 million).
This new figure comes three months after Dre was also ordered to pay his Young US$3.5 million (approx. $4.7 million) per year in spousal support — which equates to a staggering US$294,000 (approx. $398,000) per month. According to People, this figure covers the expenses of their Malibu and Pacific Palisades homes and Young’s health insurance.
Dre and Young were married for 24 years before she filed for divorce in June 2020. They share two adult children: son Truice, 24, and daughter Truly, 20.
