Adom-Otchere begs Dampare to ‘free’ Shatta Wale

Broadcast Journalist Paul Adom-Otchere haspleaded with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare not to charge embattled Dancehall King, Shatta Wale born Charles Nii Armah Mensah , for his gunshot prank that has generated much controversy in the country.

Speaking Tuesday evening on his programme, Good Evening on Metro TV, Mr Adom-Otchere begged the IGP not to charge the singer with the offence of publishing false information intended to cause fear and panic but to only caution him and let him go scot-free.

“We’re pleading that he[ Shatta Wale] will be cautioned and he will be let go…” he stressed.

He repeated his plea that Shatta Wale is not charged: “We’re pleading that the police should not charge him,” he interceded.

Shatta Wale on the 18th of October, 2021, using his aide’s phone announced that he had been shot and was receiving treatment for gunshot wounds in an undisclosed hospital in Accra. Hours later, he recanted and said that he was into hiding because a Prophet had prophesied that he was going to be shot and the police took no action against the said prophet.

By the close of yesterday, Shatta Wale’s aides were arrested and later in the evening, Shatta Wale turned himself in about evading arrest the whole day.

Notwithstanding admitting that he had spread false information, Mr Adom-Otchere has strongly appealed to the police service to not charge him for the offence.
