La Youth accuse Air Vice Marshal Hanson of land grabbing…but he denies claims

The Youth of La in Accra have appealed to the Military High Command to bring to order Air Vice Marshal, Frank Hanson over illegal acquisition of lands at La.

According to them, the land which is situated behind the Military Cemetery had been illegally acquired by Mr Hanson.

They alleged that Air Vice Marshal Hanson had contracted landguards to the said ten-acre land.

The representative of the Youth of La, Nii Addokwei Tetteh stated this at a press conference in Accra yesterday.

When the Ghanaian Times contacted Air Vice Marshal Hanson for his side of the story he said“I don’t even know what they are talking about.”

“Indeed I have not even spoken to them so I cannot respond to any of their claims, ’’he added.

The meeting was to discuss how some high ranking members of the Ghana Armed Forces had acquired illegal lands within the Tseado area of the La Dadekotopon municipality.

Mr Tetteh said the said land belongs to one Mr Adolf TettehAdjei, however they claimed the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Frank Hanson, had started trespassing the land some time ago.

He said Mr Adjei went to Court and obtained a ruling against Air Vice Marshall Hanson on August 10,2020 and he was unable to produce any document to the effect of ownership of the land.

Nii Tetteh alleged that the Chief of Air Staff asked one Squadron leader John William to step on the land another case of trespassing, adding that Tetteh went to the Court to secure a ruling on March 16,2021against  Air Vice Marshal.

He said this shows that Air Vice Marshal and his men have right on the disputed land.

Mr Tetteh alleged that they brought notorious land guards on the lands under Military protection and seized and fence the land which did not belong to them.

He alleged that a group ofyouth went to the land to prevent the land guards and were assaulted  bythe unarmed men firing of life bullets destroying other items.

Mr Tetteh said the youth would not sit aloof for such things to be done in their area, stating the youth would protectthe lands in La for the future.

Mr Tetteh stated that efforts to engage the Military High Command on the issue had failed.
