Kerri-Anne Kennerley has remembered her wedding anniversary by sharing a video of her special day.
The TV and media personality posted the bittersweet footage to Instagram yesterday evening on what would’ve been her 37th anniversary with late husband John Kennerley.
“Sharing a very special day, John and my wedding anniversary,” she said of her husband, who passed away in 2019 aged 78. Watch the video above.
Kerri-Anne — who lives in Sydney and is currently in lockdown with most of NSW — said she was sharing the footage in an attempt to spread positivity.
“We were the first to ever be Married at the Opera House 1984. Such wonderful and happy memories. It makes me smile and I also hope it does for you in these tough times,” she added.
It was in February 2019 that Kerri-Anne became a widow. The seasoned TV host shared the sad news of John’s death on Instagram at the time, which she accompanied with a photo of them on their wedding day.
“It’s with a heavy heart and awful sadness that I let you know that my beautiful husband John passed away last night,” she wrote on Instagram. “As you all know, John has faced some tremendous challenges over the past few years and with each he has been extraordinarily brave and determined to overcome those hurdles and live a normal life.
“I want to thank everyone at St Vincent’s Hospital for the beautiful care they have provided to John in his last days. John passed away peacefully with his son Simon and I by his side. John, you were the love of my life.”
Three years before his death, tragedy had struck when John suffered a catastrophic fall at a golf resort in Coffs Harbour, NSW. The life-altering accident left John with a broken neck and damaged spinal cord. He was placed in an induced coma and diagnosed with quadriplegia.
