Not even five minutes later, police located another five people with gunshot wounds down the road.

Authorities said two victims were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Other victims took themselves to the hospital for care.

Police are still investigating to see if the two shooting incidents are related.

“This is becoming an effort where we’re going to need an all-hands-on-deck approach,” Chicago Police Department Deputy Chief Ernest Cato said. “The detectives are currently working a case,” he said, but that’s not enough.

“That approach is going to involve our community,” Cato added. “Our community who has cell phone photos, who has Facebook information, we’re going to need your help.”

“Unfortunately, we today have to render some news, some news everyone is probably just tired of hearing,” Cato started his address to media.

“This becoming consistent news today here in the North Lawndale area,” he said. “We had two separate shootings. Two separate shootings, three blocks apart, approximately five minutes apart.”

“Unfortunately, we’re seeing this not only in our city, we’re seeing this in our country, mass shootings,” said Cato.

“If you’re asking my feelings? I’m not happy about it at all. I think all of us should be sad about what’s going on in our country and in our city.”

The first shooting occurred at the corner of 13th St. and Christiana at about 6:05PM, and the second was three blocks down the street at the intersection of Douglas and Ridgeway, at about 6:10PM.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the upper body and was one of the victims rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

A 14-year-old boy was shot in the right arm and a 15-year-old boy was shot in the right leg.

A 17-year-old boy had a bullet graze his back. All three teens are in stable condition.

A 22-year-old man is also in good condition after he was hit in the right thigh.
